I heard a Dota 2 commentator say it best back when Dota had a league structure like CoD-when a team plays anything that doesn’t mimic the structure of the end result (major/minor championship), the product suffers because the matches don’t matter any more than qualifying to a qualifier of another qualifier to an actual tournament.

On a competitive level you need players that will always make the correct decision that will tilt the odds in your teams favour. That includes taking a death to let your teammate make a play and worsening your K/D. Its running the objective and baiting yourself to let your teammates get kills. Kids that have only played matchmaking won’t fully understand what this means, but players that played comp will be able to tell when you have a teammate that is padding the stats.

He is right, the custom skins and camos just keep getting better and better and give the game more life. If you want a generic military character then you can use the default skins. Nobody is making anyone use a custom skin
